Dear Good Brother and Sister Josephians,

Dr Gerard Nah_photo - Copy (2)

I am pleased to report that at the AGM held on 20th March 2015, a renewed Exco was elected to serve for a term of 2 years. The 11th SJIOBA Exco comprises members from the previous committee as well as new committee members that we hope will bring both change and continuity to our community. The Exco will need and looks forward to the support of our brother and sister Josephians to build on the foundations established by our predecessors and explore new avenues for reaching out to you and serving the school we all love.

We recognise the need to place more emphasis on improving communications and outreach to our greater alumni while we continue our support of SJI’s mission. To do this, we will need to improve our connectivity and leverage on technology better and we realise that we could do this much better if we enlist the help of fellow Josephians who are talented in this area. I am confident that working together for a common purpose such as this will also strengthen the bonds of our common brotherhood.

This committee will aim to make the Old Boy’s Association a spiritual home for all its members regardless of generation and give greater meaning to being a member of the SJIOBA. The programmes we plan will aim to bring Josephians together through activities where we give back to SJI in some small part, the rich gifts which we have received from her.

So, whether it’s mentoring students as part of the Josephians-at-Large or student internship programmes, taking part in the concerts or accompanying Josephians on mission trips, we hope that alumni through their participation will feel a greater sense of belonging to SJI. As we look for ways to make membership with the OBA more attractive, I pray that OBA members will be mindful that joining the OBA is not so much about what you can get from the OBA but more about what you can do to support and enrich SJI and the OBA. We must continue to aspire to be “Men of Integrity and Men for Others”.

I would like to thank you in advance for your continuing support, participation and contributions in making the SJIOBA one that other schools will wish to emulate. Come home to the SJIOBA!
