ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
An engineer by training before the wine bug bit him, Looi was from the Class of 94 and is the guy behind Luigi's Wines, an established wine importer specializing in Italian wines and dedicated to the country's many native wine grapes. He has been traveling to Italy every year since 2010, soaking up its food and wine culture and searching for the most interesting, regional wines made in the spirit of Italy's artisan tradition. Through Luigi's Wines, Looi works with restaurants and event partners to spread the message about Italy's uniquely regional diversity and food and wine heritage.
Boon Heng was from the Class of 93 and was a Chartered Engineer by profession and has been learning about wine since 1999. After returning from London, Boon founded Wein & Vin in Singapore in 2010, which specializes in Boon’s favourites – French and German wines. Boon is the first local wine merchant in Singapore to achieve the WSET Diploma. Boon’s expertise lies mainly in Champagne, German Rieslings, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Pinot Noir.
Gerard founded Stellez Vine, a South African specialist wine company with fellow 98 peers. Founded in 2009, it has improved leaps and bounds and has expanded into other areas of business such as tours and appliances. A South African ambassador to an Asian audience. Gerard graduated from SJI in 1998.
