It is certainly the achievements of its members that are often celebrated and recorded for posterity. But there are also accounts, experiences and stories of people that often are unsaid and go unheard. This Oral History video project, presented by Humanities Teachers Ms Surjeet Kaur and Mr Sarabjeet Singh, captures the side-splitting tales of Josephians. Past, present and current Josephians will find that these stories are relatable and reflect common experiences across the generations. Every Josephian matters and has stories worth listening to. Most importantly, these stories impress upon us that Josephians remain steadfast in holding on to and staying true to Lasallian values. To all Josephians, we dedicate this video project to you and we hope you appreciate that the Josephian community is much larger than the peers you meet just during your time in school. Ora et Labora! Josephian Family Mission: A Journey of Faith, Service, and Community From 8-13 December 2024, a group of 72 participants, consisting of parents, youths, and alumni, embarked on a meaningful Josephian Family Mission trip to Cambodia. United by the theme “God With Us,” the team dedicated themselves to serving the local community, particularly at La Salle Pouthum School, where they engaged in educational programs, community outreach, and acts of solidarity with the poor. Throughout the mission, participants encountered the joy, resilience, and faith of the people they served. They worked alongside the local community, helping with school activities, interacting with children, and distributing essential food supplies to 120 families in need. The mission was not only about giving but also about receiving—the participants found themselves deeply touched by the warmth and hospitality of those they met. Each day was anchored in prayer and reflection, with the group drawing inspiration from Scripture and the teachings of St. John Baptist de La Salle. Through moments of service, sharing, and personal encounters, they grew in faith and strengthened their sense of Lasallian fraternity. As the mission came to a close, the participants left with hearts full of gratitude and a renewed commitment to continue God’s work beyond the trip. Though their time in Cambodia ended, the spirit of faith, service, and community lives on in each of them, inspiring them to be beacons of hope and compassion in their own communities. “God With Us” was not just a theme—it was an experience lived, shared, and carried forward. For Mentees As a mentee, you will have the support and guidance of a mentor who will encourage, guide and support you in your personal and professional development. You will be able to grow your network and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to be the best that you can be. It is not appropriate for the mentor to provide advice or guidance on your personal relationships. Engaging in business or personal relationships with your mentor is strictly prohibited. Please keep your mentor-mentee relationship professional. To become a mentee, you will have to submit your registration form to the SJIOBA Secretariat. After the necessary verifications are completed you will receive an email to inform you that your mentoring account has been setup. Thereafter you will be able to access the Mentor Directory to browse through the list of mentors. Select the mentor that is most suited to you and contact the mentor through email or phone to introduce yourself. The mentor must agree to mentor and the mentee must agree to be mentored before the mentoring can commence. Each mentor is allowed to mentor three mentees. Each mentor should be able to mentor you for a period between one to six months depending on the type of mentoring your require. Once the agreed goals are met, the mentor-mentee relationship will end. The mentor has been asked to give you at least one month’s notice if the mentor-mentee relationship has to be ended early. This will give you enough time to find another mentor from our directory of mentors. If the mentor-mentee relationship is not working out, please let us know by contacting the SJIOBA Secretariat and we will do our best to assist and to resolve the matter. Register as a Mentor DOs and DON’Ts for Mentees DOs Know what you want to achieve and communicate this to your mentor so that your mentor can guide and support you in the correct manner. Be honest and open with your mentor. Be proactive in the mentor-mentee relationship. Schedule time for the mentoring meetings and do not cancel unless it is truly necessary. Make the most out of your meeting with your mentor by being prepared for the meeting. Know what you would like to ask and discuss. Meetings with your mentor are to discuss matters related to the goals agreed between your and your mentor. It is not a chit chat session. Respond to your mentor’s emails and feedbacks in a timely manner. Whatever that is discussed between you and your mentor is to be strictly kept Private and Confidential. If you need to discuss it with other, you should get your mentor’s concern first. DON'Ts Seek advice on everything. Keep to the agreed goals. Expect the mentor to be knowledgeable in everything and have answers to every question that you may have. Blame the mentor if the advice given does not work. Always consider the advice given before you act on it. The decision is yours. Commit to more than you can manage. Cancel meetings unnecessarily or at the last minute. Let your mentor know in advance.
