  • SJI Facilities Rental Rules | SJIOBA

    ST JOSEPH’S INSTITUTION (SJI) FACILITIES RENTAL FOR SJIOBA MEMBERS ONLY Terms and Conditions of SJI Facilities Rental Bookings of the facilities are subject to availability. The Hirer/Borrower shall fully indemnify the St Joseph’s Institution (“SJI” or the “School”) against any injury, loss of life or property suffered while on the school’s premises. It is the responsibility of the Hirer/Borrower to familiarise all attendees, participants and/or guests of the Event to the emergency exits at each location and assembly area. Except during the hours of use as specified in this application, no person shall be admitted into and/or be permitted to remain on SJI premises, unless expressly authorised by the Principal or his representative. Hirer/Borrower assumes the responsibility to ensure that all attendees vacate SJI premises after the Event. Sale & consumption of liquors, tobacco, and/or alcoholic beverages is not allowed in SJI at any time. Prior written permission is required from the Principal or his representative for the consumption of food on SJI premises. Hirer/Borrower and all attendees of the event are required to consume food at the designated place approved. Use of fire/pyrotechnics is not allowed unless approved by the Principal or his representative with appropriate Risk Assessment & Management System (RAMS) or fire safety proposal submitted for consideration. Only the sound amplification, sound reproduction and stage lighting equipment belonging to the School may be used on payment of the prescribed tariff charges; but when such equipment cannot be provided by the School, the Hirer/Borrower may use his own equipment provided that prior permission from the Principal or his representative has been obtained. Unless with the permission of the Principal or his representative, no person shall be admitted to the control room or handle the stage lighting appliances and theatrical equipment and/or operate the stage switchboard and air-conditioning plants etc in the PAC, LTs, Founders Hall or any other venues within the School’s premises. Excessive noise from electronic devices that is likely to cause annoyance to other users of the premises is strictly prohibited. All passage ways in the auditorium of the PAC, Indoor Sports Hall, Founders Hall and all means of exit shall be kept clear of chairs, tables, and any objects which may cause obstruction. The storage of any property on the School’s premises is at the risk of the Hirer/Borrower or the owner of the property and SJI will not be responsible for any damage or loss from any cause whatsoever. No Hirer/Borrower shall have control of any staff member of the School. Any disagreement with or misbehaviour on the part of any member of the School staff should be reported to the Principal as soon as possible. Applications for the hiring or renting of the premises must be made in writing to the Principal or his representative who is authorised to accept bookings. It shall be the duty of the Hirer/Borrower to prove and obtain all necessary regulatory licences or permits for the use of the School’s premises to hold any Event, performance, rehearsal etc. from the relevant authorities. Special consideration is given to school, national and state functions. It may be necessary to cancel other functions if the date(s) booked coincide with the date(s) of School, national or state functions which cannot be advanced or deferred. Should any SJI’s equipment or property be broken, damaged or lost, or should any damage be done to SJI’s premises while they are on hire/loan, the Hirer/Borrower shall pay for such damage or loss, failing which the School will deduct the replacement cost from the deposit. No equipment or property shall be altered or modified without the prior approval of the Principal or his representative. If approval is given, the School may require a deposit to cover the cost of repair or replacement of equipment or property that might be damaged. In the absence of wilful default, the School’s management and representatives shall not be held responsible for any loss of or damage to the properties of the Hirer/Borrower. The Hirer/Borrower must be entirely responsible for the proper and safe setting of any property used in the School’s premises and for the proper working of all his own electrical, mechanical and other appliances. SJI shall not be held responsible for any expenses, claims or demands in the event of any accident occurring to any person engaged in connection with the work. The number of attendees shall include all persons using SJI’s premises, including but not limited to accompanying child or helper. The person booking the premise must inform SJI when booking the facilities if there are any child below 12yos attending. SJI does not have child friendly facilities. The Hirer/Borrower shall indemnify the Principal and the School against all claims, demands, actions and proceedings arising out of any infringement of copyright on unauthorised playing, performance or use of any recording, apparatus or contrivance during the rental of premises. No commercial advertisements, posters or banners are allowed in any part of the premises without the prior approval of the Principal. All users of school facilities are expected to keep the venue in neat and clean condition after the end of their activities. Applicants of the school facility may be barred from booking facilities for a year failing to do so. The Principal reserves the right to cancel, terminate, advance or defer the booking(s) of any part of the facilities at any time by notice to the Hirer/Borrower. In this respect, the decision of the Principal shall be final. The Principal reserves the right to waive or amend any of the Terms and Conditions listed herein. Book Now

    Josephian Mentoring Circle JMC The Josephian Mentoring Circle (JMC) is an initiative by the SJIOBA established in 2021 to support its members at the different stages of their life. Mentoring is about having a more experience person journeying, supporting and sharing their experiences with you as you encounter the different challenges at different stages of your life. The JMC consists of members who are willing to be mentors to journey, support and share their experience with other members. The JMC mentoring program is a platform that allows mentees to select a mentor to journey with them. It provides the mentees with the opportunity to work with a mentor who is able to help them to build their network and gain valuable insights and information about their industry. The JMC mentoring program caters to three categories: SJI IB and A Levels graduates. SJI University graduates. Members who are looking for a job or career change. The JMC also hopes to be able to run other programs like Career Seminars and Fairs and Networking sessions for the SJIOBA members. The JMC is managed by a team of members who truly believes in the benefits of mentorship.     SJIOBA Sports Fest 2024 GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS Background The Sports Fest 2024 is organised by the SJIOBA with the following objectives: It gives ex-students the opportunities to come together in a sporting event and to foster esprit de corp among ex-students. It continues to cultivate a sporting culture that ex-students experience in their time in SJI – ie. Promoting good physical being, mental being and emotional being for general wellbeing and social integration. Date, Time and Venue of Event Date: Saturday, 7 September 2024 Time: 1pm – 6pm Venue: SJI Field and Indoor Sports Hall Sports Competition The following sports will be organised: 7 v 7 Football (maximum 12 teams) 5 v 5 Touch Rugby (maximum 12 teams) 3 v 3 Basketball (maximum 12 teams) Badminton (mixed tournament) – individual (maximum 12 players) Badminton (mixed tournament) – doubles (maximum 12 pairs) Pickleball (mixed tournament) – individual (maximum 12 players) Pickleball (mixed tournament) – doubles (maximum 12 pairs) Tennis (mixed tournament) – individual (maximum 12 players) Tennis (mixed tournament) – doubles (maximum 12 pairs) Format of Play All sports competition will be conducted in the following methods: Preliminary Stage: teams will be divided in 2 groups each with a maximum of 6 teams and compete in a round robin Knock-out Stage: The top 2 teams in each group will compete in the semi-finals. Winner of group A will play Runner-up of group B Winner of group B will play Runner-up of group A Winners of the above games will play in the finals and loser of the above games will play for 3rf placing. The Organising Committee reserve the rights to change the format of play if the numbers of teams/players for each sports is less or more than the numbers planned for the event. Eligibility All participants must be ex-students of St Joseph’s Institution Present students in Year 5 and 6 are welcome to participate. Registration Registration is through the following link: For team sports, team captains are to register on behalf of their teams. Closing date for registration is on Friday, 23 August 2024. Late submission will not be entertained. Registration Fees The fee for each sport is as follows: 7 v 7 Football / 10 per Team / $100 3 v 3 Basketball / 5 per Team / $50 Badminton - Individual / 1 person / $10 Badminton - Double / 2 persons / $20 Pickleball - Individual / 1 person / $10 Pickleball - Double / 2 persons / $20 Tennis - Individual / 1 person / $10 Tennis- Double / 2 persons / $20 Participants may register for more than 1 sports but note that no changes will be made if there is a clash in timing of their events. Payment Mode Team sports payment are to be made by the team captain Payment to be made upon submission of form. Prizes Prizes will be awarded to all the top three teams/individuals in each sports. In the event that there are 4 or less team or participants in each sports, prizes will only be given to the winner of each sports. Protests In the event of any dispute arising over any participant(s) and/or any team(s), the particular fixture shall be competed under protest, and the Organiser shall determine the matter on receipt of the protest in writing, together with the prescribed protest fees of $50 Protests must be made in writing together with the protest fee and lodged with the Organiser on the spot during the match. In the event of the protest being dismissed, the fee will be forfeited. The decision arising from any protest shall be final and there shall be no appeal. First Aid And Medical Participants with medical history are encouraged to seek medical advice before competing in this tournament. First aid services are available at every venue while ambulances are deployed based on the nature and risk of the sport. All teams and participants shall be responsible to ensure their own medical coverage, including first aid and personal accident insurance. Supplementary Rules All teams are urged to participate in the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship. While all reasonable precautions will be taken, SJIOBA will not be responsible or in any way liable for any death, disability, personal injury, loss of property or any other loss howsoever arising from any cause whatsoever at any time during the course of this Sports Fest. All participants should refer to the rules and regulations of the individual sports for more detail on each sport. Attire All teams in football, frisbee and basketball games must wear a standardised coloured jersey to distinguish themselves from the other team. In the event of a clash in colours, bids will be provided to one of the teams. Games Jurisdictions The captains are responsible for the proper control and good conduct of their participants and supporters. If an appeal is made to any of the above persons and it is not heeded, the Organiser reserves the right to take disciplinary action against the team. In the event of a need for disciplinary action to be taken against any participant or team, the Organising Committee shall decide and impose punishment as it deems fit. The Organiser may at any time deal with any matters pertaining to inquiries, appeals, others etc. The decision of the Organiser on all matters brought before it will be final. The Organiser reserve the right to interpret said rules and regulations as they deem fit. In the event of any question or matter arising out of any point which has not been expressly provided for in any of the rules governing this competition, the decision of the Organiser will be final. The rules and regulations as depicted above are current at the time of printing. The Organiser reserves the right to add, delete and/or vary the said rules and regulations at any time as it deems fit. Wet Weather In the event of wet weather before the tournament starts, participants are to continue to report at the respective venue, and wait for further instructions. A waiting period of about 45 minutes will be observed to ascertain if the tournament can proceed, or a washout declared. In the event of wet weather during the tournament, participants will assemble at the basement of the ISH. Matches will resume once lightning alert is lifted. If the tournament is truncated due to wet weather, in a worst case scenario, a single knock-out stage or a new format of play will decide the winner of the sport. Postponement and/or cancellation of the tournament will be informed at the venue by the Organising Committee.
